Singapore

How to get There

Scoot Airlines are owned by Singapore Airlines and offer direct low cost no frills flights from the Gold Coast where i live to Singapore every day. These aircraft are practically brand new and very comfortable.

You can usually fly return for about $500 without check in luggage, as i explained before i don’t take check in luggage to Asian Countries i prefer to travel light for the few weeks I’m there.

Getting Around

Use the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) its the fastest and most cost effective transportation system in Singapore.

Tight Arse Tips

Aircraft Snacks Load your carry on luggage with some snacks if you’re sick of airline food, no one really checks it. Fill a water bottle at the departure lounge as well, may as well be a total tight arse right.

Transport Catch the MRT to the city from Changi Airport terminal 3 for $2.50 per person the journey takes about 20 minutes. There are ticketing machines with touch screens, just press your destination and feed in the required fare displayed, the ticket will be dispensed. Choose the colour line you require paying attention to your destination number if upstream or downstream determining travel direction. These MRT trains are first class and aircon. You can travel between all 4 terminals using the Skytrain or Skybus, there are signs everywhere pointing travellers in the right direction.

Touchscreen Ticketing Machine

Beer and Snacks Again 7/11 comes to the rescue, however the cheapest beers i found were 500ml Ankor cans.

Accommodation A cheap hotel will set you back about $100/Night with breakfast, its a first world country after all.

Free Stuff To Do

Singapore Airport Changi is so big you can spend hours there exploring all 4 terminals, Jewel has just opened up costing 1.3 Billion Dollars. Its an indoor Eco system with the worlds tallest indoor waterfall. Jewel is accessible from 3 of the terminals directly and is open 24/7 free of charge.

Spectra Light and Water show, is in front of marina bay Sands Hotel and is on every night at 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm This display goes for 15 minutes and is synchronised to music and lasers from the top of Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Garden Rhapsody – Gardens By The Bay, is in at the rear of marina bay Sands Hotel and is on every night at 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm. To get there go up to the 6th floor of Tower 1, and use the elevated walkway over the highway, and down the other side. Its a 10 minute easy walk, but be sure to bring an umbrella in case you’re there in the wet season.

Little India, if you like street foods this is the place for you covering every cuisine you can think of at typical Asian prices, for a minute you forget you’re in Singapore. Use the MRT to get there its easy using the MRT map above.

Marina Bay Sands

Nothing cheap here, this is pure indulgence on a ridiculous level, where the cheapest room Monday to Thursday is $514AUD WITHOUT BREAKFAST WTF !!!!!

Once you check in to MBS you are issued with two swipe cards, one for each person swiping into your room and the rooftop pool area. In the past people did sneak into this area for free using excuses of leaving their card in the room, but those days are long gone with very vigilant security guards at all turnstiles to the pool area. No card No Entry, this is made very clear at the reception, to avoid embarrassment later. The pool is open 6 am till 11 pm, and the observation deck 9 am till 10 pm, for excellent night city pictures. When i checked in there was an electrical storm overhead so the pool was closed till it passed.

Let me be clear, nothing in this hotel is cheap, i simply went there for the pool selfie and spent zero dollars on anything else. I bought beers in 7/11 and drank them in my room after swimming overlooking the city and the stunning nights-cape.

The mall is beautiful to walk around especially in the Venice themed area and internal waterfall.
